Top 10 Most Expensive Films of All Time

Being a video production company, we love browsing movie news…especially on Fridays.

We recently saw that James Cameron will be creating the next three Avatar movies back to back to back.  Mr. Cameron is an absolute monster!

His creativity, vision, and raw talent make him one of the world’s best directors, but his work ethic sets him apart. A little life lesson for all of us, you can have all the talent in the world but it’s drive, discipline, and solid work ethic that takes people to the next level.

Big budgets also help too.

The sheer cost of the first Avatar movie was $237 million.  Did that make the top 5 most expensive films of all time?  Check out the info we found on Wikipedia

Top 10 Most Expensive Films of All Time

1. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End – $300 Million

2. Tangled – $260 Million

3. Spider-Man 3 – $258 Million

4. John Carter – $250 Million
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince – $250 Million

5. Avatar – $237 Million

6. The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian – $225 Million
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest – $225 Million

7. The Avengers – $220 Million

8. Men In Black 3 – $215 Million

9. X-Men: The Last Stand – $210 Million

10. Superman Returns – $209 Million
Battleship – $209 Million

The film that surprised us the most was Tangled.  I would have accepted a film like Avengers with an all-star cast and ridiculous special effects to be much higher than an animated movie from Disney Pixar.  We learn something new every day.

However, higher production costs do not always yield higher returns.  For example, while Tangled grossed $590,721,936 at the box office (an impressive feat for an animated film), a film like Avengers grossed over $1.4 billion!  Whether you loved or hated the movies on this list, we can all agree on one thing, the age old saying you “You get what you pay for” couldn’t be more true.

If you need a professional video produced, we’d love to work with you.  We promise it won’t make the top 10 list above.

Have a great weekend and thanks for your attention!

I was surprised to see Tangled on the list. Also expected to find The Dark Knight or one of the newer Star Wars movies on the list especially with all the cool special effects they had.
